The Donate-a-Tomato Program

It's not just about tomatoes!

One of our long-standing and popular programs is the Donate-a-Tomato Program where we collect fresh produce from local gardeners and redistribute, free of charge, to soup kitchens, shelters and food banks.

The Donate-a-Tomato Program came to life because we discovered that although shelters, food banks and soup kitchens receive assistance from the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the amount of fresh produce they can provide is limited. Instead, shelters must rely on less healthy canned and boxed goods, which are often heavily processed.

With the Donate-a-Tomato Program, home gardeners pick their produce when available, place it in a box or bag on their front porch or step, call our hotline (717-298-0150) and a volunteer will stop in within 24 hours and pickup your donation. It's E-A-S-Y!
