Our organization is dedicated to the memory of Gemma Rose Macchioni, our mother, grandmother and friend.

Widowed at the age of 40 with five children, she struggled to provide for them while maintaining her dignity and generosity of spirit. Barely a day went by when she wasn't feeding family, friends or neighbors. Her Italian cooking was legendary. Her pies were well known throughout town and were fed to many, from neighbors to even foreign diplomats.

In addition to her love of cooking and baking, her favorite hobby was crocheting. Just prior to her passing, she hand-crocheted over 100 pairs of slippers for the children of two orphanages in Makiivka, Donetsk, Ukraine, from where two of her grandchildren, Zane and Liana, were adopted.

Her generosity was well-known as she welcomed those in her home with great aplomb, especially during the holidays. Sumptuous meals which were attended by a mix of family, friends and whoever tagged along. All were welcome!

It is in this spirit of giving and generosity that we dedicate our efforts. Gemma is sadly missed by her five children, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
